Cold storage facilities
In recent years, SODEPA has undertaken to set up value chain structures with the help of partners. Their contribution is essential to the industry and solves the problem of product preservation. These frozen food chambers are designed to keep the meat at a suitable temperature. These are storage, preservation and packaging centres before the products are distributed.
Our meat is stored at low temperatures so that it retains its taste and nutritional qualities. At all stages of production, an average temperature of no more than 40 C ensures that the meat is healthy before distribution. Our storage facilities are equipped with international standard storage areas. Carcasses are handled following industry standards. our workers are equipped to handle all stages of the production chain.
In the course of its recent activities, SODEPA has opened four (04) storage facilitities, namely:
- The Yaounde cold storage facility with a volume of 6,000 m3 and a storage capacity of 10,000 carcasses of 200 kg of beef is under construction and the work is very advanced and almost completed. Its commissioning is forthcoming.
• The Ngaoundere cold storage facility with a volume of 1,400 m3 and a storage capacity of 2,500 carcasses of 200 kg
• The Kribi cold storage facility with a volume of 3,000 m3 and a storage capacity of 5,000 carcasses of 200 kg awaits the start of construction work.
• Ebolowa cold storage facility has a volume of 1,400 m3 and a capacity of 2,500 carcasses of 200 kg.
