Ebolowa was buzzing with excitement on 21 December 2021. SODEPA’s top management, staffs of the Head Office, the Yaounde Abattoir, the Ebolowa cold store, and administrative and religious authorities of the said town were all in agreement for the solemn opening of the first pilot modern slaughterhouse in the South Region in particular, and in Cameroon in general.

The Governor of the South Region, Mr. Félix Nguéle Nguélé and his entourage were welcomed by the General Manager of SODEPA.

For this solemn occasion, SODEPA salespeople were dressed in the colours of « My pal the butcher« . This new sales point of SODEPA’s commercial network will reflect the will of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, to tackle high cost of living, by providing quality meat products at preferential prices, to households.

A few speeches punctuated the rest of the event…

« The city of Ebolowa has welcomed the idea of this project«

said the representative of the Mayor, in her welcome address. The General Manager of SODEPA recalled the mission of providing quality meat products to households in the city and the pioneering nature of this project in Cameroon.

« 150 million has been allocated for the two projects, the future development of the slaughterhouse with a permanent grilling system. »

said Mr. KOULAGNA KOUTOU DENIS in his technical presentation of the said project.

The highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of the ribbon by the Governor of the South Region. Then a guided tour was an opportunity for the distinguished guests to learn about the quality of the technical facilities, the cold room and the meat exhibited for sale. Grill professionals were invited to serve mature meats to the guests who expressed their complete satisfaction.

Finally, business in the new butcher shop could actually begin under the watchful eye and coordination of SODEPA top management.

Interviews, a cocktail and musical interludes marked the end of this special day.
